I recently dyed my hair a really pretty, but VERY intense shade of coppery red, and the last time I dyed it this color, the color didn't stay as long as I would've liked. What's everyone recommendations for a good shampoo specifically for color-treated hair? (By good, I mean "able to retain red hair color the longest"...red's the only color I ever have problems retaining)

Also, I have a problem with my hair getting too oily very fast, so sometimes I cut my color-save shampoo with a LITTLE clarifying shampoo. Is this bad for the color? I've always been afraid that it does, but my hair just gets so oily that I can't resist. :(

herbal essances is very good shampoo, and you absolutely need the color treated part. it has extra chemicals so it wont strip the colors from your hair.

also sunsilk is very good shampoo, and im pretty sure ALL of them are for color treated hair, just find the kind you need for the oily problem (i know they have it) and read the back to make sure. i was surprised when i saw my sunsilk protects color treated hair

Redken Color Extend....It's pricey but worth it. I too have hair that gets oily quickly and I do not have a problem with this shampoo or conditioner.

Hi If your using a clarifying shampoo then this could be the cause for your hair dye not lasting as long as you want it to. Anything to fully cleans the hair will stripp the colour out.

I find that using a colour care shampoo and conditoner dry my hair out, and I dont think it makes a difference how long the colour last, it just makes the hair shiny, but the thing is as my hair is dry I need a moisturising deep penetrating condtioning shampoo and conditioner, but if I use one for coloured hair I dont get a good result, Which is what I imagine you get with having greasy hair and needing to use a different shampoo and conditioner to keep the hair under control.

So I wouldnt worry too much about you shampoo being ther reason for you colour not lasting as they dont last long anyways. I had to keep dyeing my hair nearly every 2 weeks and I was using a colour protection, the tresemme one and it didnt make a difference to the colour lasting and my hair was as dry as a bone.

I have gone on to henna dyes now, as you can put these on as many times as you like and not wreck the hair and they are permenant and just fade. Loads of people love the red hennas and if you cover the henna once you have it on your hair gets more redder.and the more you hennait the better red you will get. I got mine from Lush, I got the brown one but the rouge one is one of the best sellers.

Also they do a solid shampoo called reincarnate, its for coloured hair and it brings out red highlight so it sound perfect for you hair and it has no chemicals in it. I tried it the other day and its brilliant. I also have greasy roots and I found it didnt get as greasy.
