Red dye: hard to get rid of or long-lasting?

I've heard that red from previous dye-jobs is the hardest tone to get out of hair but also that red hair dye is one of the quickest to fade. Which is it?

Red dye: hard to get rid of or long-lasting?

I have heard and seen this problem too. My friend died her natural light blond hair with red streaks. It said on the package that after about 20 washes the color would come out. Even after far many more than 20 washes her hair is still tinted red. In a way, both things you have heard are correct. Although the color fades fast, the color also remains tinted in the hair for a long time. Hope this helps! =)

both...

the red dye molecule is very large (compared to blonde and brown), therefore, its difficult to make it stay in the hair for a long period of time, especially if the hair is damaged, dry, or porous. red is the quickest color to fade, but it does exactly that...fade. your hair is still red, its just a much lighter red. however, when you lighten hair with color remover or bleach, regardless of what color it is to start with, its going to go through a red stage. if the color you're trying to remove is already red, it often times just turns lighter shades of red, eventually turning pink or orange. red and black are a hairdressers nightmare as far as removing or lightening, both for the same reason...they don't like to come out.
